Trump offers 20 core promises, including the dollar's status as the world's reserve currency

2024-08-13 16:08

Abstract: U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump released his "20 core promises to make America great again" on Monday afternoon, including "maintaining the dollar as the world's reserve currency."

While he and his running mate Vance have made several statements in recent weeks calling for a devaluation of the dollar to boost the country's manufacturing sector and reduce the trade deficit, the inclusion of the dollar's reserve status in his list of promises suggests that he recognizes the value of having a reserve currency status and doesn't want to see that come to an end during his term in office.

In addition to maintaining the dollar's status as the world's reserve currency, Trump has promised to:

1, seal the borders to stop the migrant invasion.

2, Implement the largest deportation in the U.S. history.

3, End inflation and make America affordable again.

4, Make America the world's leading energy producer by far.

5, Stopped outsourcing and turned the US into a manufacturing superpower.

6, Cut taxes drastically on workers and don't tax tips.

7, Defend the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and fundamental libertys, including liberty of speech, liberty of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms.

8, Prevent World War III, restore peace to Europe and the Middle East, and build a giant Iron Dome missile defense system throughout the country, all made in America.

9, End the weaponization of the American people by the government.

10, Curb the proliferation of immigration crime, crack down on offshore drug cartels and gang violence, and incarcerate violent criminals.

11, Rebuild cities, including Washington, D.C., to make them safe, clean and beautiful again.

12, Strengthen and modernise the military so that it is unquestionably the most powerful in the world.

13, Maintain the dollar as the world's reserve currency.

14, Fight for and protect Social Security and Medicare with no cuts, including no change in the retirement age.

15, Eliminate mandates for electric cars and cut costly and burdensome regulatory requirements.

16, Cut federal funding for some schools. These schools indoctrinate children with critical race theory, radical gender ideology, and other racially, sexually, or politically inappropriate content.

17, Campaign to keep men away from women.

18, Expel pro-Hamas radicals and make college campuses safe and patriotic again.

19, Ensure elections, including same-day voting, voter ID, paper ballots, and proof of citizenship.

20, Keep the country united and bring it new and record successes.

The erosion of the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency has been a hot topic lately. A recent analysis by the Atlantic Council found that the dollar's share of global foreign exchange reserves has fallen from 72 percent in 2002 to 58 percent today, a 14 percent decline over the past 22 years.
